The CIM-mes Projekt team together with Szczecin University of Technology performed numerical analysis of a collisions and stranding of the selected types of barges (OPW 500W,NC and TUS). Finite element models were created using the construction data, additionally, models of water and sand bottom were developed. The simulations where performed according to predefined scenarios, including the analysis of stranding and barge collisions. Obtained results allowed to estimate the potential damages of the barges during such occurrences along with the identification of barge elements which require strengthening and redesign in order to increase the safety. Simulations were carried using the PAM-CRASH software.
